The Chief Inspector’s Report

This report looks at drinking water quality at a national level from the perspective of the Chief Inspector of the Drinking Water Inspectorate. It is published each year around the end of June/beginning of July and covers the previous calendar year. From 2016 the annual overview was supplemented by additional quarterly reports.

The reports cover water quality testing and results, public confidence in drinking water, events and technical audit activity. They also contain a summary of all results of the water companies regulatory sampling programme and a list of all the cautions and prosecutions carried out by the Inspectorate.
