Details of this Notice:

1. This Notice is served on the Company by the Drinking Water Inspectorate on behalf of the Secretary of State, under regulation 27(4) of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (as amended) for the assets listed above, for risks associated with:

  • Ground truthing/site walkovers of hazards;
  • Review of land usage hazards;
  • Source-pathway risk analysis of identified catchment hazards;
  • Risk from Cryptosporidium and turbidity;
  • Risk from proximity or Source Protection Zone 1 hazards;
  • Abstraction point site inspections: risk to borehole headworks (including flooding (pluvial and fluvial), ingress, borehole integrity and air vents), including review of the suitability of control measures in place (such as site drainage and maintenance inspections); and
  • Risk from on-site stores of effluent (e.g. cess pits/septic tanks), including suitability of any control measures in place.

Requirements:

2. The Company are required to satisfy the following:

a. Review of a risk assessment:

1. Carry out a review of the risk assessments for all the Company’s groundwater catchments. The review or completion of new risk assessments (as applicable where risk assessments are found to be absent) must include the risks as outlined in section 1, that the Inspectorate has found to be deficient.

Date by which requirement must be satisfied: COMPLETE

2. Carry out a review of the risk assessments for all the Company’s abstraction sites. The review or completion of new risk assessments (as applicable where risk assessments are found to be absent) must include the risks as outlined in section 1, that the Inspectorate has found to be deficient.

Date by which requirement must be satisfied: COMPLETE

3. Carry out a review of the risk assessments for all the Company’s surface water catchments. The review or completion of new risk assessments (as applicable where risk assessments are found to be absent) must include the risks as outlined in section 1, that the Inspectorate has found to be deficient.

Date by which requirement must be satisfied: 30 September 2025.

b. Reporting:

1. Submit the revised or new risk assessment (as appropriate) as outlined in section 1 and 2, accompanied by a Board level Director sign-off.

Date by which requirement must be satisfied: As soon as reasonably practicable upon completion. It is anticipated this would be by 30 November 2025, to allow for the annual submission review in October.
